According to information from Ms. Therese Bhattacharya-Stettler, the painting is registered in the supplement to the catalog raisonné under number 10.1867 as an autograph work by Anker. The painting was recorded in the archives of the Swiss Institute for Art Studies under the number 78586 as an autograph work by Albert Anker. Exhibition: Ins, Paths to Work, 2000. The "Young Woman at the Piano" from 1867 offered here can be compared with Anker"s depiction of the "Polish Exiles", which was created a year later (cf. Kuthy/Bhattacharya, No. 120, with illustration) or with the “Song of the Homeland” from 1874 (op. cit., 193, with illustration). In the two later paintings, the young woman"s brother and father are also depicted.
